Eligibility Criteria (as on 30.06.2026)

Nationality

Candidates must be a Citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who arrived before 1 January 1962, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from certain specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Educational Qualification

For Generalists: Graduate Degree/Post Graduate in any discipline (Engineering, Arts, Science, Commerce, Agriculture, Data Science, etc.) from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PwBD).

For Hindi Officers: Master’s Degree in Hindi with English as a compulsory/elective subject (or vice versa), or a Master’s Degree in any other subject with Hindi and English as compulsory/elective subjects, with a minimum of 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PwBD).

Working knowledge of Computers is mandatory for all candidates.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of the following stages:

  1. Tier I – Preliminary Examination (Online Objective Test, 100 marks, 1 hour) — English Language, Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude
  2. Tier II – Main Examination (Objective + Descriptive Test) — covers English, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness (Financial Sector), Computer Knowledge, and a Descriptive Test
  3. Interview — Shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview

Final Merit List: Based on Main Examination (Objective Test) and Interview marks in the ratio of 75:25. Preliminary Exam and Descriptive Test marks are NOT counted for final merit.
