Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

Applicants must be Indian citizens, or fall under a small set of other eligible categories (such as subjects of Nepal or Bhutan, or persons of Indian origin who migrated from specific countries with the intention of settling permanently in India). Candidates in these special categories need an eligibility certificate issued by the Government of India.

Age Limit

Candidates must be at least 40 years old and less than 55 years old as on 01.09.2026.

Educational Qualification

A graduate degree from a recognised university is mandatory, along with one of the following:

  • Certification in financial risk management from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), OR
  • Professional Risk Management Certification from PRMIA, OR
  • At least two years of experience as a CRO in a regulated lending entity where a CRO appointment required Board approval.

Desirable (added advantage) qualifications include CFA, CA, CMA, a postgraduate degree in Finance/Economics/Banking/Risk Management/Business Administration, or specialised certification in treasury, credit, operational, cyber, climate, or model-risk management.

Experience

At least 5 years of experience in Corporate Credit and Risk Management at the level of Assistant General Manager (AGM) or above in one or more Public Sector Banks, or an equivalent senior role in a regulated lending entity — with a minimum of 1 year each in Corporate Credit and Risk Management.

Role of the Chief Risk Officer

The CRO will oversee the bank’s entire risk management function across four broad areas:

  1. Credit Risk Management
  2. Market Risk Management
  3. Operational Risk Management
  4. Liquidity and Interest Rate Risk Management

The role also involves implementing RBI/BASEL guidelines, leading the bank’s risk team, and reporting risk profiles to the Board and Risk Management Committee.

Tenure and Remuneration

  • The CRO will be engaged for an initial 3-year contract, extendable annually up to a maximum of 5 years, subject to yearly performance review.
  • This is a contractual engagement only — it does not lead to regular employment, and benefits like PF, Gratuity, or Pension do not apply.
  • Compensation will be negotiated based on the candidate’s profile and suitability.
  • Candidates get 30 days of paid leave per year (max 5 days at a stretch).
