Educational Qualification

  • Matriculation (10th pass) or equivalent from a recognized board.
  • Certificates from boards other than Central or State Boards need a Government notification declaring equivalence.

Nationality

  • Indian citizens, including subjects of Nepal and Bhutan, male and female.

Other Standards

  • Weight: Proportionate to height and age as per the weight chart in the notification.
  • Eyesight: Distant vision 6/6 (better eye) and 6/9 (worse eye) without correction, near vision N6 and N9. Glasses or lenses are not allowed.
  • Colour blindness: Colour blind candidates are not eligible.
  • Candidates must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose veins or squint.
  • Tattoos: Allowed only in limited cases, such as the inner side of the left forearm or the back of the hands, with a size less than one-fourth of that body part, and with content permitted as per the notification.

Selection Process

The selection has the stages below, in this order:

Tie-breaker rules: Higher marks first, then higher achievement in national competition, then the younger candidate, and finally alphabetical order.

Female candidates: A self-declaration of pregnancy status is required at the PST stage, and the notification has provisions for temporary unfit cases.
