Overview
GAIL (India) Limited — a Maharatna PSU and India’s leading Natural Gas company — has announced career opportunities for the post of Executive Trainee (ET) in four engineering disciplines: Chemical, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Mechanical. Selection will be based on GATE-2027 marks, and GAIL will publish a detailed follow-up advertisement in February 2027.

- General/EWS/OBC(NCL) candidates need a minimum of 65% marks; SC/ST/PwBD candidates need a minimum of 60% marks (5% relaxation, applicable only for reserved posts).
- Only full-time regular engineering degrees (B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. Engg.) are considered.
- A candidate can apply for only one post/discipline.
Who Can Apply
- Candidates who completed their engineering degree in 2026, OR
- Candidates currently in their final year (2026-27) of engineering.
- Candidates who completed their degree in 2025 or earlier are NOT eligible.
- Only Indian Nationals can apply.
Age Limit
- Upper age limit: 26 years as on 18.03.2027.
- Age relaxation: SC/ST – 5 years, OBC (NCL) – 3 years, PwBD – 10 years (applicable only on reserved posts, except PwBD relaxation which applies regardless).
- Maximum age cannot exceed 56 years including all relaxations.
Selection Process
- Selection is based entirely on GATE-2027 marks — GATE scores from 2026 or earlier years are not valid.
- Candidates must first register and appear for GATE-2027 in the relevant paper (CH/IN/EE/ME as applicable).
- After receiving the GATE-2027 admit card, candidates must separately apply online on GAIL’s website using their GATE-2027 Registration Number.
- Applications without a valid GATE-2027 registration number will be rejected.

How to Apply (Two-Step Process)
- Register for GATE-2027 through the official GATE website (gate2027.iitm.ac.in) and appear for the exam in your relevant discipline paper.
- Download your GATE-2027 admit card once activated.
- Wait for GAIL’s application link to open on 17 February 2027 on gailonline.com.
- Apply online on GAIL’s website, entering your GATE-2027 Registration Number.
- Submit before the deadline: 18 March 2027, 6:00 PM.
